Apprenticeship in Improving Operational Performance - Level 2 Course Details

What qualification will I achieve? 
This qualification allows the learner to gain a nationally recognised NVQ level 2 Diploma qualification.
On successful completion of the programme, the apprentice (learner) will have achieved the following as part of their apprenticeship:

  • NVQ level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations
  • Industrial Environment Awareness Technical Certificate (IEA)
  • Functional Skill Maths
  • Functional Skill in English
  • Employment rights and responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)

Who is this qualification for? 
The programme has been designed specifically for those working in an environment where you work in a manufacturing capacity, in a wide range of manufacturing industries that give the learner significant new knowledge and skills. Current roles may include:

  • Manufacturing Process Operator
  • Maintenance Operator
  • Production Inspector
  • Assembly Operator

What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has two mandatory units:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and Organisational safety requirements
  • Promoting effective working relationships OR Contributing to effective team working

To achieve the Manufacturing Operations NVQ, the learner will complete 48 credits.

Assessment
Each Learner on the programme will be assessed through observation on a minimum of 3 occasions. Assessment is carried out during normal working hours and creates minimum downtime for collecting signatures and allowing for a short feedback.
To achieve the Manufacturing Operations NVQ, the learner will complete 48 credits. The candidate is to identify their current competence for the units selected

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 10/11 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining credits. 

Enhancements to the above qualifications and to make the apprenticeship align to the specific needs of the employer, the following qualification could also be achieved.

  • National Operator Registration Scheme (NORS)

Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage - Level 2 Course Details

What qualification will I achieve? 
This qualification allows the learner to gain a nationally recognised Level 2 Certificate qualification.

The Certificate in Warehousing and Storage at Level 2 is a combined qualification incorporating competence and knowledge a minimum of 26 credits is needed to complete the main aim NVQ.

On successful completion of the programme the apprentice (learner) will have achieved the following:

  • Induction, Information Advice and Guidance
  • Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing & Storage (combined qualification)
  • Functional Skill Maths L1
  • Functional Skill English L1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Who is this qualification for? 
The programme has been designed specifically for those working in an environment where they are working in an operative role, and will be accredited with qualifications to fulfil the following role as Warehouse Operative. This includes working as part of a team; you may be required to load/unload vehicles.  You will also have delegated responsibility for the correct selection and packing of customer orders, ensuring they are ready for despatch on time.

What does this qualification cover?
The qualification is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification is made up of two mandatory units:

  • Health, safety and security at work
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations

These units will give a total of 7 credits. The Certificate in Warehousing and Storage at Level 2 is a combined qualification incorporating competence and knowledge a minimum of 26 credits is needed to complete the main aim NVQ

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 7 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 19 credits. 

If applicable we can offer enhancements to the above qualifications to make the apprenticeship align to the specific needs of the employer, the following qualification may also be offered.

Who is this qualification for? 

  • Applicants that have an interest to work in an environment where business is critical to continually improve the organisations products, processes or services in order to remain competitive
  • Applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and anticipate that they will have a wide range of experience, achievements and qualifications.
  • Applicants that have previous work experience or employment in the relevant sector and/or occupation
  • Achieved an N/SVQ Level 2 and/or Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant sector/occupation such as engineering, manufacturing or science
  • Completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship framework in the relevant sector such as Engineering Manufacture or Improving Operational Performance
  • Candidates who are willing to undertake a course of training both on-the-job and off-the-job and apply this learning in the workplace are analytical and have an aptitude for finding solutions to problems enjoy working as part of a team

What does this qualification cover?
There are two pathways for B-IT. Your Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units.    

Pathway A: Process Improvement
This qualification has five mandatory units:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Contributing to effective team working 
  • Contributing to the application of workplace organisation techniques
  • Contributing to the application of continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen)
  • Contributing to the development of visual management systems

These units will give a total of 47 credits. To achieve a Level 2 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques, learners must complete a minimum of 56 credits; the remaining 9 is gained through an optional unit.

Pathway B) Quality Improvement
This qualification has five mandatory units:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Contributing to effective team working 
  • Contributing to the application of six sigma methodology to a project
  • Contributing to the application of six sigma process mapping
  • Contributing to the application of basic statistical analysis

These units will give them 54 credits. To achieve a Level 2 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques, learners must complete a minimum of 56 credits; the remaining credits are gained through two optional units.

Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing credits through mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining credits required. 

When choosing the optional unit this is to be completed with your assessor to ensure the correct unit is chosen for yourself and your company.

  • Business Administration skills are transferable across sectors and can be applied to many job roles. The apprenticeships are primarily aimed at individuals whose job role is dedicated to business administration as an occupation including

 What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has six mandatory units:

These units will give a total of 21 credits. To achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration, learners must complete a minimum of 45 credits; the remaining 24 are gained through optional units.
A minimum of 36 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at level 2 or above.

Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 21 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 24 credits.

Entrants will come from a diverse range of backgrounds and will come with a range of experience, age, personal achievements.
Business Administration skills are transferable across sectors and can be applied to many job roles. The apprenticeships are primarily aimed at individuals whose job role is dedicated to business administration as an occupation.

What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has five mandatory units:

  • Communication in a business environment
  • Principles of business communication and information
  • Principles of administration
  • Principles of business
  • Manage personal performance and development

These units will give a total of 27 credits. To achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration, learners must complete a minimum of 58 credits; the remaining 31 are gained through optional units.
A minimum of 40 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at Level 3 or above.

Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 27 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 31 credits.

Who is this qualification for? 
The apprenticeships are primarily aimed at individuals whose job role is dedicated to customer service as an occupation, for example intermediate apprentices may be Customer Service Trainees, Assistants and Representatives/Agents.

What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification is made up of five mandatory units:

  • Deliver customer service
  • Understand customers
  • Principles of customer service
  • Understand employer organisations
  • Manage personal performance and development

These units will give a total of 19 credits. To achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service, learners must complete a minimum of 45 credits; the remaining 26 are gained through optional units.

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 19 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 26 credits. 
A minimum of 45 creditsmust be achieved through the completion of units at Level 2 or above.

What does this qualification cover?
The NVQ is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has six mandatory units:

  • Organise and deliver customer service
  • Understand the customer service environment
  • Understand customers and customer retention
  • Principles of business
  • Manage personal and professional development
  • Resolve customers’ problems

These units will give a total of 31 credits. To achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Customer Service, learners must complete a minimum of 55 credits; the remaining 24 are gained through optional units.
A minimum of 40 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at Level 3 and above.

Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 31 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining required 24 credits.

Who is this qualification for? 
Working as the Senior Member/Team Leader of the team, in addition to your normal warehouse operation activities, you will also have delegated responsibility for overseeing the correct selection and packing of customer orders, ensuring your team complete these tasks on time ready for despatch, and the co-ordination of transport.

What does this qualification cover?
The qualification is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has four mandatory units:

  • Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operation
  • Supervise the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods
  • Provide leadership for your team in logistics operation
  • Take responsibility for health, safety and security in your team

These units will give a total of 16 credits. To achieve a Level 3 Diploma, learners must complete a minimum of 40 credits; the remaining 24 are gained through optional units.

Knowledge assignments
These are issued at various stages throughout the programme and are designed to enhance understanding, good and safe practice, and also contribute to the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ. The study books also act as ongoing information and reference aids.

On successful completion of the programme the apprentice (learner) will have achieved the following:

  • EAL Level 2 Certificate in Logistics Operations (QCF)
  • Functional Skill Maths L1
  • Functional Skill English Reading L1
  • Functional Skills English Writing L1
  • Functional skills ICT L1

  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Who is this qualification for? 
Learners who are already in employment within the logistics industry, in a warehouse and storage facility, distribution centre, transport or freight forwarding operation. It is particularly relevant to those who already have good experience, skills and an understanding of the logistics industry.

They should ideally already be in a supervisory or team leading role or looking for promotion.

Other learners

  • All learners undertaking an approved logistics apprenticeship. 
  • All learners aged 16 and above who are capable of meeting the standards.
  • For those who do not currently work in the industry, but would like to gain some of the skills and/or knowledge required to do so.

What does this qualification cover?
The QCF is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has three mandatory units:

  • Health, Safety and Security at Work
  • Make an Effective Contribution to a Business
  • Optimise the use of Logistics Resources

These will give a total of 13 credits. This course has a total of 20 credits; the remaining 7 are gained through optional units.

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 13 credits by mandatory units you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining required 7 credits. 

Enhancements to the above qualifications and to make the Apprenticeship align to the specific needs of the employer, one of the following qualifications may also be offered at a cost

Advanced Apprenticeship in Management - Level 4 Course Details

What qualification will I achieve? 
This qualification allows the learner to gain a nationally recognised Diploma.
On successful completion of the programme the apprentice (learner) will have achieved the following:

The apprenticeship is made up of the following:

  • Induction, Information Advice and Guidance
  • Level 4 Diploma in Management 601/3247/4
  • Level 4 principles of Leadership and Management 601/4235/2
  • Functional Skill Maths demonstrate abilities at Level 2
  • Functional Skill English demonstrate abilities at Level 2
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Who is this qualification for? 
The Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Management and the Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Leadership & Management has been developed to support those working as managers, senior managers, and heads of department, directors and those working in a range of other senior management positions.

What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has four mandatory units:

  • Manage personal and professional development
  • Provide leadership and management
  • Develop and implement an operational plan
  • Develop working relationships with stakeholders

These units will give a total of 17 credits. To achieve a Level 4 Diploma, learners must complete a minimum of 53 credits; the remaining 36 are gained through optional units.

A minimum of 40 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at Level 4 or above

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 17 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 36 credits. 

How long is the qualification?
This qualification will typically take 24 months (2 years) to complete.

What is the sign-up procedure?
A member of our Engagement Team will visit the site to complete all necessary documentation.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Management - Level 5 Course Details

The Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Leadership & Management has been developed to support those working as managers, senior managers, and heads of department, directors and those working in a range of other senior management positions.

What does this qualification cover?
The Diploma is made up of mandatory and optional units. The qualification has four mandatory units:

  • Contribute to the Development of a Strategic Plan
  • Design Business Processes
  • Manage Strategic Change
  • Provide Leadership and Management

These units will give a total of 22 credits. To achieve a Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management and Leadership, learners must complete a minimum of 53 credits. The remaining 31 are gained through optional units.

A minimum of 30 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at Level 5 or above.

Are there optional units?
Yes. This qualification will be obtained after completing 22 credits by mandatory units; you must then complete sufficient optional units to provide the remaining 31 credits. 

How long is the qualification?
This qualification will typically take 24 months (2 years) to complete.

Subject to qualifying criteria and eligibility employers that have a payroll bill of less than £3m will have to make a 10% contribution towards the apprenticeship with the other 90% funded by the Government. If you are a levy paying company the money for the apprenticeship qualification will be deducted from your levy pot.
